Chester Joiner Belvin, Jr., AKA Buddy
Chester Joiner Belvin, Jr., was born in Pinehurst, Georgia. Buddy’s parents were Chester Belvin, Sr., and Mattie Ruth Peacock Belvin. Chester Belvin, Jr., was always known as Buddy, to his immediate family. Buddy left his earthly home on January 9, 2025, just a month short of his 88th birthday.
Buddy was to be named after his father, Chester Belvin, and would have been Chester Belvin, Jr. However, the midwife who delivered Buddy, misspelled Junior on his birth record. Therefore, on his official birth records, Buddy’s name shows Chester Joiner. Buddy’s father was nicknamed Buddy, and his son Buddy, was called “Lil Buddy” by his mother for her entire life.
Buddy came from Georgia to New Jersey when he was 11 years old. Buddy was one of the few people who was able to fulfill his youthful dreams of becoming what he wanted to be when he grew up. Chester wanted to be a driver and became a successful truck driver. Buddy was the owner of Belvin Trucking. Buddy passed his truck driving talent along to his son, Chester Wendell. Buddy was also a driving instructor, teaching truck driving.
Some thought that Buddy had a quick temper, but he was a gentle lamb with a tender and loving heart.
Family was very important to Buddy. He loved his parents and siblings deeply. Later, when he married and became a father, his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren became like precious gold to him.
Buddy was predeceased by his parents, Mattie and Chester; his son, William Henry; his granddaughter, Angie; his brothers John, Marvin, Ismael, and Andrew; and his sisters Susie and Gloria.
Buddy leaves to cherish his memory, his son, Chester Wendell; his grandsons, William Laquan, Craig, Yassiel, and Etyam; his granddaughters Sharae’, Shonte’, Lena, Shante, and his great grandchildren, I'azayiah, Bazir, Pharah, and Kamryn; his former wife, Lena; his sister Beverly; his niece he raised, Tara; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
